Commissioner Thomas Van Stone Sr. has served on the Waterbury Board of Education for 7+ years. He has an advanced degree in Organizational Management from Fairfield University. Additionally, he has undergrad degrees from Fairfield University, Post University, and Waterbury State Technical College. He currently is Chairman of the Curriculum Committee. He has been employed at Sikorsky Aircraft a Lockheed Martin Company for 40 years, currently as a Program Manager for Canadian Maritime Helicopter Program. His volunteer commitments have included over 35 Years Track Official and Committee member for Special Olympics CT Games and over 30 years coaching youth athletics. For these efforts he has received A Hopes Honoree from the Archdiocese of Hartford and the United Technology Corporate Volunteer of the Year Award.

He is married to Kathy (Farkas) for 40 years.

Family includes 3 adult children, Tom Jr. (Kathryn), Matthew (Loriah), and Brian, with eight grandchildren, James, Felicity, Claire, Brooke, Jaxon, Ethan, Charlotte and Rhett.

Amanda K Nardozzi

Waterbury Republicans Board of Education

Amanda K. Nardozzi was born in Waterbury and is a life- long Connecticut resident.  Her interests in the criminal justice system led her in 2001 to join the Naugatuck Police Department where she currently serves as a Detective Sergeant heading the Youth & Special Investigation Division.  Since 2004 she has been a member of the federal Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, specializing in child exploitation investigations.  In 2015 she was sworn in as a federal task force member with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security assigned to the Human Trafficking Task Force. 

Amanda is an adjunct faculty member at the University of Bridgeport and Post University.  Since 2004 she has been a State of Connecticut POSTC Certified Instructor in the areas of juvenile law, mental health, sexual assault investigations, rape crisis, and domestic violence.  She has been recognized by Safe Haven for her work with victims of sexual abuse and domestic violence.  

Amanda currently serves as a Commissioner for the City of Waterbury’s Board of Education, on the Board of Directors of the Boy & Girls Club of Greater Waterbury, the Board of Directors of Naugatuck Youth Services, and the Board of Directors of Jane Doe No More.   She previously served on the Community Advisory Board of Connecticut Public Television (2017-2021) and the city’s Environmental Control Commission. 

Amanda graduated from Post University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice, from Nova Southeastern University with a Master of Science degree in Forensic Psychology, from Walden University with a Master of Philosophy degree in Psychology and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Psychology.  Her areas of academic and research interests are post-traumatic stress disorder and compassion fatigue. 

Her professional areas of interest are the reduction of children’s exposure to the criminal justice system through diversionary, educational, vocational, and mentoring programs.

She resides in the Country Club neighborhood and is an avid golfer.
